Our pony Beauty, has been away being broken in to ride and has recently returned back here to Ross Bay.  She is incredibly quiet and sensible, and Philippa and I are enjoying some walks around the bay, grooming, mucking out etc……… all in a day down on the farm.

Autumn is here.

Lovely skies at night, but turning colder now.  The cattle still happily grazing on the fields which are a bit on the wet side shall we say so treading the soil up a bit…………ready to come in doors soon.

Cattle.

All times are busy here at Ross farm.  The cattle need moving around the farm to new fresh fields, and the bulls need to change the groups they run with too.  Some cows need to be moved to the maternity wing for closer observation………its all go go go!

Sheep management!

Sheep management they call it………..all lambs weaned off their mummies to give them a rest, worming completed and fly deterrent applied so that the horrid flies don’t lay their eggs and cause maggots to grow and hassle the sheep and lambs. Haymaking at Ross Farm.

Haymaking time has been completed for the 2017 winter feed.  First cut silage is done and in the clamp, and we are awaiting the regrowth of our luscious green coastal grass for our second cut silage to make sure we have enough winter fodder for all the farm animals down here on Ross Farm.
