Encouraging the bees with the wildflower patch.

We try and be at one with nature down here at Ross Bay. We have farm stock, wild deer, wild and sea birds, and we have sown a wildflower mix around the bay to encourage the bumble bee – without which, life cannot go on. We like to do our bit down here to have

Roxey our little cocker spaniel enjoying the view.

A lovely walk over the hill and down to the sea is sometimes all you need for a recharge – Roxey enjoyed stopping to take in the view, unless it was a deer she had spotted!

Muck spreading.

Dry ground equals muck spearing on the farmland! Our bedding from winter is all loaded into the rota spreader and spread across the fields to make the grass grow. A natural fertiliser which also adds soil depth for the grass roots to make growing much better. Green grass equals happy contented cows and sheep (husband

Smile………………..

Well Spring, if you can call it that has been a really tough time down here and for many farmers. The true risk of farming is always the weather. We have had freezing temperatures followed by rain, wind, drizzle, mist and warmth. Its easy for us to take a coat off or put a scarf

The deer.

Whilst going around the sheep this morning I spotted this little deer sitting contentedly by the side of the wall and fence in the sunshine and out of the wind until she spotted me……..she jumped up and set off, knowing exactly where she was going on her farm, straight up the field, and the photo

Itchy chin.

Our hereford bull seems to enjoy a pose for the camera.  He has moved fields and has some new girlfriends now, and is exploring around the new field boundaries.  Great to find that place to scratch ones itch!  What else are these rocky outcrops on the farm for?  Lovely picturesque views over Ross Bay, and

Who surprised who?

Just tootling along minding our own business, looking to see if the grass was ready to cut for silage, and I think we made the deer jump!  There are several deer to be seen down here at Ross Bay in the different patches of woodland around the farm, living and hiding behind the gorse.  There

The view of the bay.

Our beautiful bay is just the perfect medicine to relax and take a step back in time, and let the world pass you by for a few days.  The sunshine looks glorious as it reflects on the high tide in the bay.  The constant ebb and flow means there is always something different to see

A Deer Visitor.

We have several different groups of deer living freely down here at Ross Bay in the woods on the farm.  We do have a mother with 2 young living in the wood on the driveway to our house and the cottages.  Our talented guest Jill Rowland staying in Creel Cottage caught this superb photo of
