Well Spring, if you can call it that has been a really tough time down here and for many farmers. The true risk of farming is always the weather. We have had freezing temperatures followed by rain, wind, drizzle, mist and warmth. Its easy for us to take a coat off or put a scarf on, but the animals cannot do that. The problems are the same whether the animals are housed indoors – the winds can blow in and create droughts, or outside, at least the large areas can be explored by the experienced animals to find the best shelter according to the weather and wind direction. So smile I say…..its been hard but we are coming through the other side, and its lovely to go around the animals and see the lambs skipping around now, the calves trying to grow like the grass and things bucking up. Keep smiling, there is always someone worse off than yourself you must remember.
