This is the helicopter lifting the gear from Pharos onto Ross Island. Landed on the field known as horsepark to swap pilots!
Works are being carried out on the lighthouse on Little Ross / Ross Island, and the ship is bringing in the gear.
Albeit wet, cold and miserable, Philippa and I set off to be there for the Christmas light switch on and to see Santa in town. After some carol singing, in the rain the lights were on and if you drive through Kirkcudbright after dark I am sure you will agree they look splendid.
Stunning views over the Mull of Ross towards the west. A little dusting of snow for the perfect country winter scene. Lovely walks over by Kirroughtree, and Newton Stewart.
We were excited a few weeks ago when the Border TV crews visited Ross Bay while making a feature on diversification in farming. Visit the Harbour Square between 11am and 3pm on Sunday 27th September, Sunday 22nd November and Sunday 20th December to sample some great local produce. How lucky are we?
