High tides.

Although we missed the snow here at Ross Bay, we have had some high tides which have washed up some seaweed and debris further around the bay. The high tides and windy weather are great to watch from a toasty warm cottage. You can sometimes hear the sea roaring over at Fauldbog bay, it certainly

New girls to the herd.

These are the heifers which will be continue to grow up here to replace some of the older cows. They have been bred here at Ross Farm from our herd of cows and their father is the good looking Hereford bull (ginger with the white face), who likes posing for the camera. They should grow

Snowdrops are coming………

Our January has been cold but we have missed the snow so, no snow days or sledging for us! The snowdrops are just coming out and making us believe Spring is nearly here at Ross Bay. We will be starting lambing mid February so lets hope for a dry time so the lambs get a

Frosty December.

We are having some lovely frosty weather down here at Ross Bay. Minus 3 being the lowest temperature which is usually a couple of degrees warmer than in the town.  Cold air and lovely walks are in abundance so lets enjoy it.

Sunrise at Ross Bay in November.

Its a great feeling waking up to a sunrise like this in November I have to say.  Its pleasant heading off to feed the cows, take the dogs out, feed the horses, geese, hens etc, and go around the fields and round the sheep on the quad bike but…………I think its more pleasant waking up

Leaves all gone………….

A few cold spells, and breezes here in Kirkcudbright has seen most of the leaves fall off the trees.  I suppose though it does make way for seeing some more of the views through the bare trees, and those lovely walks with the cold fresh air as you sniff…………hats, coats and gloves on and enjoy

Dinner time!

Well it seems to be that time of year again, Winter time.  The clocks have gone back an hour so it gets dark earlier.  Most of the cows are loose housed in the sheds for winter time, enjoying their silage, and sheltering from some of the wind and rain.  It feels a little like Spring
