The Bug Hotel…….

Having recently visited the Cream O Galloway and attended the Ethical Farming Conference there earlier this month, David and I had food for though (pardon the pun!)  We have already planted some wild flower areas on the farm to encourage the bees and butterflies, but we thought we could do more so watch out for some small changes which should have a positive impact on the environment.  If we can all make small changes we can have a big impact.  We have many areas around the farm and the bay which could be utilised more to link our farm more with the environment, and provide habitats.  We have an old pond which needs reinstating, and woodland which needs attention…….  This simple bug hotel was constructed with old pallets, rotting wood, soil, grass, and lots of other bits on a small area of scrub land around the bay.  There are lots of things we can all think about but we have already started, and are looking for other ways to improve, so please if you have any ideas, do email them across to me!!
