Hay made, we then concentrated on making haylage – baling the dry grass, and wrapping it with the black plastic to give the animals a great tasty alternative to dry hay and clamp silage (grass in a silage clamp fermented to a great winter feed). Trying to balance the diet for the animals is hard but with the superb weather we have had, we have had the chance to make a variety of feed. Just need to haul some cereal crops up to Ross (barley, oats and wheat) to add to the varied diet for the winter time!
