Wow is the feeling you experience when you look out to sea and the surrounding farmland and countryside. These delightful cottages are a hidden gem with stunning scenery, picturesque views and are set amongst idyllic coastal farmland. Tranquillity and uninterrupted sea views from our 500 acre farmland let you see the Isle of Man looking south (approx. 27 miles), the Cumbrian fells of the Lake District to the east and the Machars of Wigtownshire to the west. You can also see the Robin Rigg Windfarm in the Solway Firth on a clear day.
If you can’t yet picture it visit our gallery of photos.
The hill known as Miekle Ross (to the east) looks across “The Sound” to Little Ross (Island) with its own lighthouse and much history for you to find out about! There are two rocks off Meikle Ross known as Sugarloaf and Fox Craig. Further westward is the stunning view of Slack Heugh Bay (cliff top) then Fauldbog Bay (rock), with some amazing geological rock formations.
Have a look at our “peninsular picture map!”
There are lots of things to see and explore around and about Ross Bay if you don’t want to jump in the car and set off. Take a walk along the lane around the bay (reasonably flat road), ride your bicycle there, or for the more enthusiastic walker follow some of the core paths around our 500acre farm, or the neigbouring farmland paths. Play on the beach (some sandy areas), do some beachcombing, or walk out to meet the tide. You could do a spot of sea fishing and we are told by the locals that the rocks off Miekle Ross is the place to go. Bring your own boat and leave from the slipway across the bay! Or just sit and watch the world go by!!!! Ahhhhhh.
Our farm animals will be around on the fields in the spring and summer months hopefully enjoying the lush grass and sunbathing.
We only moved here to Ross on 28th February 2014, so we have many ideas, plans and improvements which we would like to make around and about.
